Rumus kalimat nominal Simple Past Tense: S + To be ''was/were'' + C/A Subject = There. To be = were, karena subjectnya memakai ''there'' yang mana dipakai untuk kata benda jamak. Complement = some houses. Adverb = near the temple. Kalimatnya menjadi ''There were some houses near the temple'' (Ada beberapa rumah di dekat candi).
