Pada soal ini kita disediakan sebuah teks berisikan cerita si penulis mengenai pengalamannya. Teks ini bisa dikategorikan sebagai Recount Text dimana ia bercerita tentang masa lalunya. Pada soal ini terdapat pula pertanyaan w hat madethe teacher hate the writer? (apa yang membuat gurunya benci dengan penulis?) untuk menjawab pertanyaan ini, kalian perlu memahami kata kuncinya yakni terdapat pada kata hate (benci), selanjutnya kalian tinggal mencari di teks mana kata yang memiliki makna yang sama dengan hate. Pada teks, dapat dilihat kalimat b ecause of that, my math teacher didn't like me. (karena hal itu, guru matematika ku tidak menyukaiku) Disini bisa kita lihat posisinya sang guru matematika sudah tidak menyukai penulis, kemudian kalian tinggal mencari penyebabnya yang terdapat pada paragraf sebelumnya. Dapat dilihat bahwa sang guru memarahinya saat ia mengerjakan soal di depan kelas namun ia tidak paham mengapa. Selanjutnya, diceritakan bahwa mendekati hari kelulusan, sang guru baru terus terang bahwa ia marah karna ia malu saat teman-teman si penulis membantunya saat itu. Dari penjelasan tersebut, dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa alasan dari mengapa sang guru membenci penulis adalah it was because the teacher told the author that he/she was wrong, the author's friends disagreed and defended him/her tetapi jika ditelaah lebih dalam, jawabannya juga bisa because she was embarassed when my friends helped me.
