    Gorontalo is one of the provinces on Sulawesi Island. The capital is a city with the same name, Gorontalo. The area is composed of extensive coastlines, rugged mountains, and a large central valley almost entirely surrounded by steep slopes.

    The mountainous panorama of Gorontalo serves a magnificent scene, and it's also a place to live for various kinds of unique animals and trees, such as anoa, tarsius, and maleo birds, and kinds of animals that live in the forest. If you are in Gorontalo, explore the place and get memorable experience. Here are things that you can do when visiting Gorontalo.

1. Enjoy Limboto Lake. It is located in a village named Iluta, which is 10 km from the town center. The unique characteristic of this lake lies on the variety of freshwater fish species, which only can be seen on this lake. Besides, on this lake there was a landing field for the amphibian airplane name Katelina, which carries the First President of Republic Indonesia, Soekarno.
2. Visit Fort Otanaha. It is located on the hill, facing to Limboto lake. In the past, the Kings of Gorontalo used Otanaha castle as a place of protection and defense. The panorama of Limboto Lake can also be seen clearly from the castle of Otanaha because the castle stands on the top of highland.
3. Visit beautiful beaches.. You must visit Olele Beach. The beach is a gate to the underwater paradise. The amazing beauty of underwater life on this area has been recognized by many divers. It is proven by the enthusiasm of the divers who come to this area. Bitilia Sea Garden offers diving spots with remarkable beautiful underwater views. This place is 15 minute drive from Boalemo Indah Beach. Besides, feel white sand at Boalemo Beach and make yourself comfortable and relaxed. You can also swim, boat, and dive on this beach. Along the seashore, there are coconuts and pine trees. You should also visit Lahilote Beach. It is located in Pohe Village, about 6 jm from downtown of Gorontalo. This beach itself is worth to visit but sometimes crowded by local people at weekend. Leato Beach also has white sand. The seashore with its white sand gives us an impression of making refreshment to visitors. Watch the process of repairing wooden boats in traditional way. The underwater life of this place is quite interesting. The beautiful coral-reefs, the unique of fish and sunken ship have become the attractions for divers.
4. Hop your feet on Saronde Island. It is located in the northern Gulf of Kwandang, North Gorontalo. It can be reached about 1 hour trip from Gorontalo City, including 30 minute ride by boat from Kwandang Harbor. Saronde Island has about 1 km long beach from the north to the west coast consisting of white sand, from the west coast consisting of white sand, from the south to the east filled with neatly arranged rocks and surrounded by beautiful coral reefs. This island is pleasant in a tropical paradise. You may swim, snorkel, dive, fish, or sunbath on the beautiful white sandy beach.
5. Don't miss a chance to visit Kerawang Handicraft Industry (Karawo). Kerawang is one of Gorontalo's traditional handmade cloth. Buy the cloth as the souvenirs.
