A Canadian Tourist Has Died After Falling from a Popular Zipline Attraction in Northern Thailand
Local media reports say a Canadian man has died after the cable of a zip line he was traveling on snapped in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand-the latest accident to befall the popular Flight of the Gibbon tourist attraction.
According to the Bangkok Post, the man was identified as 25-year-old. Spencer Charles, who was vacationing in Thailand.
Local officials in Mae-on district told the Post that the accident happened late on Saturday morning when a cable was reportedly disconnected shortly after Charles was released from the start of the zip line, causing him to fall more than 300 feet to the creek below.
The year before, an American woman and a Chinese woman, crashed into each other while riding the zip line and were hospitalized.
According to a Post report of 2017, the husband of the Chinese woman claimed in a statement to a Thai court that there was no first aid kit available on the site at the time of the accident, while the American woman suffered from brain trauma and lost vision in one eye as a result.
The Flight of the Gibbon bills itself as "a chance to encounter wild gibbons in their natural habitat" by ziplining through "the ancient Thai rainforest." It says it has "the highest international safety standards"; land "fully trained staff" it calls "Sky Rangers."
It was founded in 2007 by New Zealander David Allardice, according to its website, and operates zip line attractions in Chiang Mai and in the Thai capital Bangkok.
The company has accepted full responsibility for the accident, said an official cited by the Post, and an investigation is underway.

Paul McCartney's Handwritten "Hey Jude" Lyrics Sell for $910,000
On the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' breakup, the lyrics to one of the band's most popular songs, "Hey Jude," sold for $910,000 at a New York auction. It was the highest-selling item in the annual Beatle mania auction.
The lyrics, handwritten by lead vocalist and bassist Paul McCartney, sold for nine times its original estimate on Friday, according to Julien's Auctions. The messy lyric sheet was used when the band recorded the 1968 hit at London's Trident Studios and later gifted to a studio engineer.
"It's obviously a very iconic song that everyone's familiar with," Julien's Auctions music specialist Jason Watkins told Reuters. "These handwritten lyrics were used in the studio as a guide when they were recording it."
McCartney wrote the song, originally titled, "Hey Jules" for John Lennon's son Julian to comfort him during the divorce of his parents. It was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal at the 1969 GRAMMY Awards.
The lyrics were just one of more than 250 items of Beatles memorabilia on sale to mark the 50th anniversary of the band's historic breakup, including guitars and other instruments, rare vinyl and other autographed items. Another top item, a bass drumhead with the band's logo from its 1964 North American tour sold for $200,000 and John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "BAGISM" drawing sold for $93,750.
The original stage from the concert venue Lathom Hall in Seaforth, Liverpool England, where The Beatles had their first advertised gig sold for $25,000.
The auction was set to take place at the Hard Rock Cafe New York City but was moved online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The following text is for questions 31 to 34
People should change their lifestyles in order to support our local farmers. There are several ways we can do that. One of them is buying and consuming fresh local groceries as much as possible. It includes local vegetables, fruits, bread, etc.
The fruits and vegetables that we buy from a farmer market are the freshest and tastiest ever. They are allowed ripen fully in the field and sold directly to us.
A lot of food found in supermarkets are highly processed and grown using pesticides and genetic modification. Many of them are irradiated or gassed in transit which may bring negative effects on human health. However, local groceries are minimally processed and our farmers grow nutritious products using sustainable farming techniques.
Buying local groceries can also protect our environment. A few groceries are distributed by areas with large amount of fuel that contributes to pollution and creates garbage from the packaging. Local groceries don't need much transportation to get to the market, so they require less time and fuel to distribute.
So, from now on we should consume fresh local groceries to support our local farmers because they contain less pesticides, are not genetically modified, and also help reduce pollution.
