I am sure most of you have downloaded music a number of times. Downloading music is one of our favourite activities on the internet. Most of us love surfing web sites that facilitate music downloads. Downloading music may make it conveniently available. But does it have a negative effect on the music industry?
Downloading music makes it readily available to the masses. Music reaches the masses in minute. When it can be downloaded, music lovers get what they need without struggling for long periods of time. When music becomes available within sometime after its release, it is a real musical treat for those waiting for the release.
When you download music, you save on the costs that would be incurred if you would have decided to buy it. The original copies of music need you shell out big bucks. If music is downloadable, you are sure to save money and thanks facilities of free downloading.
Supporters of music downloading claim that making music readily available contributes to the increased popularity of the artists. The concept of making music available for free downloads has in fact contributed to the fane of the music industry. Being availble for download, music reaches the crowd in a relatively lesser amount of time thus boosting its popularity.
On the other hand, though downloading music makes it readily available to the masses, it also makes it spreadable and wide overly. Something that is scarce is precious whiler something that is plentiful and easy to get tends to have lesser value.
The practice of downloading music leads to the diminishing sales of music cassettes, CDs and DVDs. It reduces the sale figures of music companies. It has an adverse effect on the music industry.
Downloading music gives rise to copyright and privacy issue. By downloading music you lose its originality. When you use the copied versions of music, you indirectly encourage piracy. As you download music, you do not go for the purchase of the original copies of music, which may result in an indirect violation of copyright.

SPORTMANSHIP
Ideals, reality clash at Olympic Badminton
John Leicester
Associated press/London
In sport, as in life there are those who bend rules and those who cheat. They've always excited. And because of human frailties and pressure from sponsors, countries, coaches, and athletes themselves for medals and trophies, they always will. But bending rules and spitting on them is not the same thing.
Olympic ideals of fair play, sportmanship and all of that are just-an ideal. But the reality of the Olympic Games is that success is measured in gold, silver, and bronze.
Be good sportman if you can but, above all, win and we will give you a shiny medal. And because these are Olympic medals, they will bring fame and perhaps fortune, too. Winning medals changes lives. Being good sport alone rarely do. Sad, perhaps, but true.
Between the Olympic ideal and the Olympic reality is a trap that eight badminton players fell into at London 2012.
They didn't cheat. Instead, they tried to win-by deliberately trying to lose. The bent the rules to breaking point. But they didn't trample on them like doped sprinter Ben Johnson at the 1988 Seoul Olympics or Fred Lorz in 1904, the New Yorker who hitched a ride by car for much of the Olympics marathon and then ran over the finish line in first place. It's not like a boxer taking a dive or a soccer player scoring in his own goal to get a fat envelope from syndicate. Those are cheats, dammed cheats. The women badminton players from China, South Korea, and Indonesia are not.

Many people imagine the sea-horse to be real horse living in the sea. This is not true at all. The sea-horse is so called because it is a tiny creature with a horse-liked head which lives in the sea. Sea-horse are found mostly in warm seas.
They have a long, flexible tail which is used for wrapping around weeds for support. They swim upright position, their movements being helped by a rapidly oscillating fin on their back. The male sea-horse lays her eggs in this pouch.
The most remarkable thing about the sea-horse is that part of the process of reproduction is taken over by the male creature. Once the female sea-horse has laid her eggs in the male creature’s pouch, she leaves. The hatching of the egg is done by the male fish. Mating begins with the male and the female sea-horses doing courtship dance. The male and female creatures swim around each other in circles.
At the end of the dance, the male appears to bow to its partner; but actually, the male is banding to pump water from his pouch. Next, the female fish lays eggs into the male’s pouch. About two hundred eggs are laid. The pouch, then close up. The female sea-horse now swims away, leaving the male sea-horse to do hatching. The eggs are hatched about a month later. The young sea-horses are ejected from the male creature’s pouch by means of muscular contractions.

Should children be allowed stay in at break times?
A group of children at Willow Tree School feel they should have the right to stay in at break times if they want to. There are number of impracticalities regarding such a ridiculous idea but the foolish children appear not to have considered them.
Firstly, the children have to be supervised at all times and with children inside and outside this would not be possible. The budget for lunchtime stuff is already being stretched and there is certainly not enough money to employ extra staff just to satisfy these selfish children.
Some of the children are suggesting that the teachers could supervised them if they choose to be indoors at playtime. Are the teachers not working hard enough already? Do they not deserve 50 minutes to reflect on the morning? Do they not use the 50 minutes to prepare for the afternoon? Asking the teachers to supervise the children is beyond their job description.
Everybody knows that air is needed to help the brain at its best. In a recent study, Oxford University found that children’s concentrate tripled once they had been outside. If children were allowed to stay cooped up inside all day their concentration would suffer.
Of course some people might say it’s unfair to make children go outside on a cold day. However, it has been proven that colds and illness spread in warm conditions. So, being outside is actually beneficial to their health. Plus they can run around and get some exercises outside.
Children need to go outside at break times. They need fresh air and exercise for their health. Teachers need a break to prepare, reflect and relax. However, the fundamental reason why children cannot stay in at break times is because there is just not enough money to provide supervision.

THE SCIENTIST HELP SHEEP DIES
Keith Campbell, a prominent biologist who worked on cloning Dolly the sheep, died at 58, the University of Nottingham said Thursday. Campbell, who had worked on animal improvement and cloning since 1999, died October 5, 2012, University spokesman Tim Utton said. He did not specify the cause, only saying that Campbell had worked at the University until his death.
He began researching animal cloning at the Roslin Institute near Edinburgh in 1991. In 1996 the experiments led to the birth of Dolly the sheep, the first mammal to be cloned from an adult cell.
The sheep was named after the voluptuous singer Dolly Parton. Researchers at the time said that the sheep was created from a mammary gland cell, and that Parton offered an excellent example.
The creation of the sheep captured the public imagination and instantly became a scientific sensation. The experiments drew not only admiration but also anger from some who raised questions about the ethics of cloning. Animal rights activists were outraged, while the church of England expressed reservations. Dolly was put down in 2003 after she developed a lung disease. Campbell’s interest in cellular growth dated back to his collage days studying microbiology in London.

An Alliance Could Answer The Growing Threat from Google and Facebook
By Evelyn M. Rulsi and Nick Bilton
Apple, which has stumbled in its efforts to get into social media, has talked with Twitter in recent months about making a strategic investment in it, according to people briefed on the matter.
Although apple has been hugely successfull in selling phones and tablets, it has little traction in social networking, which has become a major engine of activity on the Web and on mobile device. Social media are increasingly influencing the ways people spend their time and money - important consideration for Apple, which also sells application, games, music, and movies.
Apple has considered an investment in the hundreds of millions of dollars, one that could value Twitter at more than $10 billion, up from an $8.4 billion valuation last year, these people said. They declined to be identified because the discussions were private.
There is no guarantee that the two companies, which are not in negotiations at the moment, will come to an agreement. But the earlier talks are a sign that they may form a stronger partnership amid intensifying competition from companies like Google and Facebook.
Apple has not made many friends in social media. Its relationship with Facebook, for example, has been strained since a deal to build Facebook featured into Ping, Apple's music-centric social network, fell apart. Facebook is also aligned with Microsoft, which owns a small stake in it. And Google, an Apple rival in the phone market, has been pushing its own social network, Google Plus.
According to the news, Apple has not been very successfull in ....
